Baltimore, MD (March, 14 2017) – On Wednesday, March 8, as part of AIA National Grassroots Conference, members of AIABaltimore took part in Capitol Hill visits. AIABaltimore’s delegation met with federal representatives to discuss issues significant to architects and the built environment. Many in our volunteer delegation were current and past participants of CivicLAB, AIABaltimore’s annual leadership and advocacy training program.
Discussions took place at offices of:
Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) to discuss a number of topics from the AIA National legislative agenda ,in particular Issue Brief on a comprehensive pro-growth tax code.
Representative Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) to discuss investing in infrastructure.
Representative John Sarbanes (D-MD) to discuss AIA support for the Federal sustainability goals relating to the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 and the 2030 initiative.
Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD) the team discussed the importance of investing in our nation’s infrastructure, and to ensure that  “vertical infrastructure” alongside the typical provisions made for road and bridges.
