BALTIMORE, MD (July 7, 2017) – inPLACE Design—a Baltimore-based architecture, planning, and design firm specializing in retail and mixed use projects—has named Haris Koentjoro a principal of the firm.
With more than 20 years experience, Koentjoro has focused much of his career on international work. As a principal at inPLACE Design, his primary focus will be to use his knowledge and experience to increase the depth and breadth of the firm’s existing portfolio of mixed-use, master planning, and retail projects.
“We are thrilled to welcome Haris to the inPLACE Design team,” said Dustin Watson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, CDP, Founder and Principal of inPLACE Design. “He has an impressive professional background, which will allow us to provide our clients with a powerful and highly experienced team who have tackled some of the most challenging projects around the globe.”
Previously, Koentjoro was a principal and senior designer at DDG. While there, he was at the forefront of the design concept and development of countless international projects, including master plans, retail, mixed-use, corporate offices, and entertainment centers.
Koentjoro has significant experience in China, Turkey, South America and the Middle East as well as the U.S., including Easton Town Center, Columbus, Ohio and Westgate City Center in Glendale, Arizona. He also has a number of noteworthy Indonesian projects. Those include: the Pondok Indah Mixed Use, Bintaro X-Change TOD masterplan, Grand Kamala Lagoon Smart District, Metland Cyber City, and Metland Ubud Bali Resort.
Koentjoro is a frequent speaker on retail and mixed-use projects at conferences around the globe. In May, he spoke at the Building Tech Expo, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
A big proponent of incorporating sustainability into each of his designs, Koentjoro’s belief is that land is a finite resource and that proper planning is a must.
