November 28, 2017 (Baltimore, MD) – After leading CannonDesign’s education practice in Baltimore for a little over a year, Mike Glaros, AIA, LEED AP, has been appointed to lead their multidisciplinary Baltimore office. As the Baltimore office practice leader, Mike will continue leading CannonDesign’s local education efforts, while expanding his focus to the overall growth and development of the office. This includes fostering new community relationships, mentoring employees, championing business development, and creating new client partnerships across the health, education, civic and science industries.
Mike joined CannonDesign in 2016 after practicing design in Baltimore for nearly two decades. His project experience spans the spectrum of the education market, in addition to commercial and civic typologies. Since joining, he’s taken on leadership roles on a number of high-profile projects, including the University of Maryland’s Cole Field House, Towson University’s New Science Facility, Virginia Tech’s Student Wellness Facility, and Washington College’s Cain Athletic Center. On each project, he is recognized for his leadership skills and his ability to understand the unique challenges and opportunities clients face.
When reflecting on Baltimore and its evolution, Mike notes that the city is ready for design intervention. “The region represents a wide range of economic opportunities and unique geographic features. Because of this diversity, we have the opportunity to develop specific design responses tailored to the needs of our clients. The city itself has a bright future and a rich history, which we hope to leverage as we further engage with the design and development community in Baltimore.”
CannonDesign has been practicing architecture and engineering in Baltimore for more than 15 years. In addition to the education projects listed above, the firm is currently working on a number of science and healthcare projects in the region, including Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) Building 201, Sheppard Pratt Health System’s new psychiatric hospital and medical office building, and the expansion of Lancaster General Hospital.
