Spears/Votta & Associates, Inc. Merges with Bala Consulting Engineers


Baltimore, MD (November 26, 2018) – Baltimore based Spears/Votta & Associates, Inc. has merged with Bala Consulting Engineers, a Philadelphia based firm with offices in King of Prussia, PA, New York City and Boston. BALA | SVA will continue to serve the corporate, education, data center, public sector, religious, healthcare and developer markets in the Baltimore region. In addition to providing their core MEP/FP engineering services, the merger with Bala enables SVA to offer Structural Engineering, Integrated Technology Design, Energy Modeling, Commissioning, Validation and Critical System Operation and Testing, to their clients.
Both Spears/Votta & Associates (SVA) and Bala have over 35 years of engineering expertise and have designed numerous noteworthy projects. SVA projects include multiple towers and a central utility plant for Harbor East, historic redevelopment projects for Tide Point and Clipper Mill, Data Centers for T. Rowe Price, Constellation and BGE, a central utility plant for Washington, D.C. Convention Center, and Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Department Building.
Philadelphia-based Bala is recognized for its excellence in engineering High-Rise buildings including the FMC Tower, the new Comcast Technology Center, and the Comcast Center, as well as Mission Critical facilities. Some other notable projects include new student housing projects at Villanova, Drexel and Temple Universities as well as Marist College and multiple projects for Boston’s Logan Airport.
SVA leaders Bruce Votta and Cory Colassard will continue to run the operations for BALA | SVA, plus gain the technical resources, marketing efforts and access to Bala’s national relationships and clients.
