The BAF Board of Directors would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Nathan Dennies for his work to advance the mission and goals of BAF. Nathan will be leaving us to pursue a new career opportunity with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. For over seven years, Nathan played a key role in the success of BAF programs and initiatives. He managed Doors Open Baltimore from its first year in 2014 and oversaw its tremendous growth working with our volunteer Doors Open planning committee.

As Associate Director of BAF, Nathan played a greater role in overseeing BAF operations and major initiatives. He opened doors to new funding opportunities, particularly with grants that have supported BAF operations, programs, and research initiatives. Nathan’s passion and love for Baltimore was clearly evident in his work. Through Doors Open, Nathan built strong relationships with Baltimore arts and cultural organizations to advance shared goals to promote Baltimore’s architecture and history and to showcase Baltimore as a cultural destination. In response to the pandemic, Nathan formed a partnership with Baltimore Heritage to create the Virtual Histories Series that has reached thousands of people with content about Baltimore architecture and history.

“It was an honor to serve as Associate Director of BAF,” Nathan said. “I will cherish the time I spent with the organization, and working with our very talented staff, board, and volunteers. I’m proud to have had a role in the success of the organization, especially with Doors Open Baltimore.”

Those that had the privilege to work with Nathan on a committee level know what a pleasure he was to work with – hardworking, collegial, talented and passionate.  His contributions to the BAF will be appreciated for a long time to come.  We thank Nathan for his service and wish him well on his new career path.
