Architectural Specification Manager – Mid Atlantic

This is the role:

ROCKWOOL is seeking a high energy technical sales professional with a track record of building successful relationships and closing new business. Reporting to the U.S. Director of Architectural Sales, this position is a front line technical sales role, responsible for strengthening the brand image, specification and sales performance of U.S. commercial insulation products. The Architectural Specification Manager will act as a liaison between ROCKWOOL and the designer and specification-writing community. Specifically, this role will have specification responsibility with Mid Atlantic firms and will focus on building scalable relationships with local architects, consultants, designers, engineers, and owners. The territory for this Mid Atlantic region includes: Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Washington D.C., North Carolina and Virginia.

Attack Pinpoint market opportunities with architectural and design community to build lasting and meaningful relationships that translate to sustainable specification growth. Generate project opportunities and achieve designer support.

Build Develop the upstream sales pipeline, working with Sales to turn potential opportunities to closed wins, through value-selling the benefits of ROCKWOOL products. Overcome objections and convert hurdles into growth opportunities among architects and commercial construction project teams.

Persist Display strong technical foundation by leveraging industry knowledge, product attributes and building science. Utilize relationships, codes and policies, and social media tools to gain insight into industry trends, market practices and communicate with customers.

Strategize Identify potential projects and market opportunities with designers and higher-level decision makers who influence contractors, subcontractors, and installers. Understand and provide competitor information and insights related to strategy and product. Compile reporting to highlight hits, misses, learning, competitive landscape and strategic next steps.

Consult Influence the building materials industry, constantly networking to become a trusted advisor to existing and potential customers. Thrive on expert problem solving, determining solutions that execute favorable results. Engage and educate customers with insight and product knowledge. Explain complex subject matters (e.g., thermal wall fundamentals) to any audience. Technical aptitude is essential.

Grow personally and professionally. Focus on continuous improvement. Develop and build stronger technical and industry knowledge, through formal internal and external training, cross functional project collaboration and team cooperation. Set individual goals.

 

This is what you offer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Two or years of related work experience is required
  • Architecture, engineering, or other high-level experience in the building material industry is preferred and will contribute to success
  • Understanding of architectural drawings and construction process
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite and CRM experience
  • Ability to travel outside of region <20%
  • Strong technical aptitude and building science knowledge preferred
  • Communication tailored to each audience (social media, PowerPoint, speech, email, presentation, facilitation)
  • Persuasiveness in closing profitable sales
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
