President’s Letter: January 2023

I am honored to serve as the 2023 BAF President. This year is going to be a fun one and to kick it off we are thrilled to be bringing back our Groundhog’s Day Party – Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 7p-11p. Historically, this event has been held in a space that is not yet open to the public and this year is no exception! Register and join us on the 2nd floor of Baltimore’s Penn Station for what is sure to be a memorable evening!

This year BAF will be connecting with more allied organizations around the city to get more people excited about the great architecture that exists in Baltimore. We’ll have events throughout the year leading up to the celebration the 10th Anniversary of Doors Opens Baltimore and I invite you to share your passion for Baltimore architecture by joining us at one or many of our future events.

All of the exciting events that are coming your way would not be possible without our amazing volunteers and board members. We’ll be continuing the great work our Future Architects Resources Committee is doing to reach younger audiences with design education programming and continuing our virtual programs to reach audiences around the world. We’ll also be working to broaden our audience locally, to reach more Baltimoreans and diversify our audience to better reflect the population of the Baltimore region.

We are always looking for volunteers and future board members so I hope you’ll get involved with some of the amazing programming we have scheduled this year. I look forward to leading BAF in 2023 and wish you a year of joy and excitement.

Cheers,

Nakita Reed, AIA, NOMA, LEED AP BD+C, CPHC
